It was the product of Gandhara culture, which was influenced by ancient Greek culture and mixed with Indian culture and Western culture.

When Sakyamuni was alive more than 2500 years ago, he opposed the idolatry of Brahmanism in Indian society. In the 600 years after the emergence of Buddhism, Buddhist believers have been following the lessons of Sakyamuni before his death and have not established idolatry. In the history of India, until the first century AD, there were no sculptures or paintings of Buddha. In the Mahabodhi Temple of Buddha Gaya built in the era of Asoka (272-222 BC), although many sculpture patterns and Buddha seats can be seen, no Buddha image can be seen on the Buddha seat. From here, we can see that the Buddhist believers at that time also followed the instructions of Sakyamuni and did not worship idols. Of course, it is also possible that they think that the sacred image of Buddha is difficult to describe and that making Buddha's image is a sacrilegious sin.
