How much is the smashed Jeff Koons sculpture?

A precious sculpture by popular artist Jeff Koons shattered after a visitor tapped it with his finger.
On the opening night of a prestigious show in Miami, audiences were shocked when guests touched a statue of one of Koons’ iconic balloon dogs, causing it to fall to the ground.
The art, once worth $42,000 (£34,870), was turned into shards of porcelain, which were hastily cleaned up by staff.
He was among the exhibits at Art Wynwood, a vibrant art fair taking place for the first time since the pandemic.
“When this thing hits the ground, it’s like a car accident that draws a huge crowd onto the highway,” Wynwood artist and art collector Steven Garmson told the Miami Herald.
According to Mr. Gamson, the sculpture was one of the highlights of the exhibition, which featured work from over 50 galleries from around the world.
What prompted the woman, who is herself an art collector, to hit the sculpture is unclear. It has been suggested that she thought the item was a real balloon.
Koons, 68, whose bunny sculpture sold for a record $91.1 million in 2019, declined to comment on the accident.
Luckily, the project was insured by Benedict Kaluch, says Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery’s art consultant.
However, this accident made the limited edition sculpture even more unique, with only 798 left instead of 799.
In December 2019, performance artist David Datuna swallowed a banana taped to the wall of Art Basel in Miami Beach.
Unfortunately for the gallery, the banana, a work of art symbolizing world trade, sold for $120,000.
