Sculpture Milwaukee fills downtown Milwaukee 2024 with outdoor artwork located along or adjacent to Wisconsin Avenue, from the Central Library to Museum Center Park.
This year’s exhibition, Actual Fractals, Act II, also expands the concept of sculpture by featuring two artists who do not create large three-dimensional objects.
These new works join the 2023 group Actual Fractals, Act One, also curated by John Rippenhoff, as well as the 2022 group Nature Does Not Know Us, artworks and even earlier sculptures. The Milwaukee Sculpture Map now shows 37 pieces of art, including anomalous sites at Site 3, Walker’s Point and the Hank Aaron State Trail.
Additionally, Sculpture Milwaukee installs Glass Spiral (1990/2024) by Meg Webster, a 2022 SM exhibition by guest curator Ugo Rondinone Commissioned by Nature Does Not Know Us. It is installed in Museum Center Park near the Milwaukee Art Museum. Webster’s transparent spiral invites people to look through it and see the park from the inside.
